Sizwe Biyela, Nkosinathi Khumalo and Vuyile Maliti have been denied bail.
CAPE TOWN – Three men arrested in connection with the murder of well-known Cape Town advocate, Pete Mihalik, have been denied bail.
The court heard that they all had pending criminal cases against them and they were likely to commit further crimes if released on bail.
The three accused – Sizwe Biyela and Nkosinathi Khumalo both from KwaZulu-Natal and Vuyile Maliti from Cape Town – intend to plead not guilty.
Mihalik was shot dead last year as he was about to drop his two children off at the upmarket Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard school in Green Point.
A gunman fired several shots at Mihalik’s SUV at close range.
He was shot in the head and his son was injured.
The advocate had top gangsters as his clients and his murder is believed to be a hit.
The magistrate said the accused had failed in their bail application to show exceptional circumstances as to why they should be granted bail.
The murder trial will now move to the Cape High Court.
